Final Fantasy 14's New Raid And 5.01 Patch Now Live, Here's What's New (2024)

The first update for Final Fantasy XIV's latest expansion, Shadowbringers, is now live and gives players their first wave of post-release content. Patch 5.01 introduces additional quests for those who finished the Shadowbringers main scenario questline under the umbrella of Chronicles of a New Era. There are also a handful of tweaks to many of the jobs and bug fixes, but the most substantial addition is the new 8-player raid dungeon called Eden's Gate.
You can access the raid by finishing the new quest called "In the Middle of Nowhere" (found at the Crystarium near the main Aetheryte) and starting the follow-up quest "Deploy the Core." Players will need an average gear level of 425 to take part in Eden's Gate and complete its four parts Resurrection, Inundation, Descent, and Sepulture.

In the 5.01 patch notes regarding rewards for running the new dungeon raid, Square Enix gave the following details:
Treasure coffers that appear upon completing Eden's Gate will not yield gear, but instead yield tokens that can be traded for gear of your choosing.
You can only receive one token per individual Eden raid each week. In the event you are awarded a token from the loot list, you relinquish your right to vie for all remaining tokens regardless of whether you selected Need or Greed.
There is no weekly restriction on entering Eden's Gate.
Reward eligibility will be reset every Tuesday at 1 AM PT.
As for item exchange for new gear, you can go to Ghul Gul in Amh Araeng or Yhal Yal in Eulmore to trade in those early antiquity tokens for the following gear:
Head: Helm of Early Antiquity x 2
Body: Armor of Early Antiquity x 4
Hands: Gauntlets of Early Antiquity x 2
Waist: Belt of Early Antiquity x 1
Legs: Chausses of Early Antiquity x 4
Feet: Greaves of Early Antiquity x 2
Accessories: Bangle of Early Antiquity x 1
There are more details on completion rewards for the new raid as well:
Upon completing Eden's Gate: Sepulture, players can also earn a blade of early antiquity once per week. This reward can be exchanged with Ghul Gul in Amh Araeng or Yhal Yal in Eulmore for lightweight tomestones, which can be exchanged for weapons.
Weapons will be available for exchange for lightweight tomestones after the introduction of Allagan tomestones of phantasmagoria, which are scheduled to be released two weeks after patch 5.01.
Reward eligibility will be reset every Tuesday at 1 AM PT.
Slight tweaks were made for a few jobs across all of FFXIV: Lancer/Dragoon ability Disembowel duration has increased for 24 seconds to 30 seconds, Scholar ability Art of War had its MP cost reduced from 800 to 600, and Astrologian ability Gravity also its MP cost reduced from 700 to 600. A Nier Automata-themed 24-player alliance raid called YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse is coming in the future, and it's being made in collaboration with series creator Yoko Taro. FFXIV director and producer Naoki Yoshida said it'll play closer to Nier and that Yoko Taro is working on it "as if he's creating a whole game."
This is the third expansion for FFXIV, and GameSpot reviewer Ginny Woo awarded Shadowbringers a 9/10 praising its great storytelling, strong instanced dungeons, and new Trust system (which lets you bring the game's characters into dungeons as AI teammates instead of real players). The Arcadion raid series has arrived in Final Fantasy 14, as of patch 7.01. This is Dawntrail's normal raid series and it's themed around taking on rivals in an arena to entertain the masses in Solution Nine.
The first mainline patch for Dawntrail will be 7.1, and will feature the first part of the Echoes of Vana'diel story and raid series, as well as the Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) in 7.11. This patch is expected to be released in November 2024.
One of the major differences between FF14 and other MMOs is that literally everything in the game can be done with a single character: every quest, every job, every dungeon. In FF14 you can learn every battle job and crafting job with just that one character, and swap between wherever and whenever you want.
Refulgence Savage, popularly known as Shiva Savage, is the final boss of the Eden's Verse series released during the Shadowbringers expansion of Final Fantasy 14. Generally, Savage raid bosses fall short of the difficulty that Ultimate raids provide to the players, but Shiva is a force to be reckon with.
Requirements for Ultimate Ultima are that you must have completed Sigmascape V4. 0 Savage, which is an item level 350 or higher raid fight. Upon completing that raid, speak with the Wandering Minstrel in Kugane to unlock Ultima Ultimate.
The Final Fantasy 14 director and the development team plan to support the game for another ten years, ensuring a long-lasting future for the MMO. The success of the game has resulted in four expansions, with the upcoming Dawntrail expansion set to provide a fresh start and a high level of catharsis.
There is no danger whatsoever of there not being an expansion, and it will probably be in 2024 (as opposed to 2023, though it's not technically impossible either). If you want confirmation from Yoshi-P that the game is ongoing, that is the case too.
As Yoshi P told Famitsu in 2012, “this is never going to work unless we put our entire company's resources into this and revamp it.” In essence, XIV 1.0 had been built using so many misplaced priorities that it was fundamentally flawed. The bespoke engine for the MMO couldn't render more than 40 characters at a time.
The final revision of the game was put out on November 1, 2012. After a final in-game battle where all XIV players were invited, the servers were closed down on November 11.

7-Star Raids are only available for short, limited periods of time. To unlock 7-Star Raids, you should first finish the game and complete the Academy Ace Tournament. After finishing the game, start hosting 5- and 6-Star Raids until Jacq calls you to give you access to 7-Star Raids.

Final Fantasy XIV has received regular updates since release, including five major expansion packs: Heavensward (2015), Stormblood (2017), Shadowbringers (2019), Endwalker (2021), and Dawntrail (2024).
The Endwalker alliance raids are “Aglaia,” “Euphrosyne,” and “Thaeleia.” To start this quest line, you'll need to finish the MSQ “A Brother's Grief.” Once you do this, you can talk to the Fresh-faced Student in Old Sharlayan to start the quest “A Mission in Mor Dhona.”
The first of them, called “Once More unto the Void” requires you to have completed the “Buried Memory” quest, then you can start this one by talking to Varshahn in Radz-at-Han. On top of that, there are four new quests in the Chronicles of a New Era line.
