Regarding the S888, I've tried several models that utilize this chip, including the Mi11, 12 Pro, K50 Gaming, GT2 Pro, and Mi 11T Pro. All of them experienced heating issues, even with normal use like web browsing and Facebook. The Oppo Find X5, however, is the exception. I'm not sure how Oppo optimized the S888 within the Find X5, but the battery life can last up to 9 hours SOT with normal use (not including gaming).

SD 888 in Oppo Find X5 is perfectly optimized and gives me a very long battery life + great performance! I really like it. There's no need to go for a faster, rather inefficient SoC such as the SD 8 Gen1. I have used the SD 8 Gen1 in a Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro and it was the worst experience I've ever had with a smartphone.

When you saw that the TDP of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is only 5.3 Watts compared to the TDP of Snapdragon 888, which is 8 Watts.

Daine Quitco, That's probably related to throttling. This chip is even worse than the SD 888, which is also hot. I'm gonna deal with it tho as long as the device doesn't die on me.

Totally agree, S888 in Find X5 is the best one optimized. It's as cool as the S865 in others. I have been used Mi11, K50 Gaming, Mi 12 pro, Mi10s, Find X6, Find X5.

Apple can't boast about greatness any longer. Everyone has the same tech now. Just diff variations and the further we go the fine differences will settle out easily. Soon everyone will have processors that use +/- nothing to run them. Shove that into your macintosh

justaFool, I mean, I could simply put an i9 14900kf into a tablet and it would instantly become the most powerful tablet on the planet. However, it would probably explode three seconds after booting due to the limited cooling capabilities of a tablet. If we're not concerned with striking a balance between heat management and portability, then we're all complete fools for not lugging around a one-ton EPYC 9754 server on our backs to browse Facebook and watch YouTube every day.

Droid18 January 2022 09:52

Anynms, You can't compare the two. Apple's processors only process a fixed number of commands and tasks since the iOS isn't versatile and the software is light. While Android chips deal with more random and spontaneous stuff.Use the apple chipset and run Linux Android on it and then compare.iPhone is only fast because of the software and the software is fast because they don't allow users to change anything.Compare only when the platforms are the same.

Amo16 March 2022 11:52

Droid, Gaming and graphical performance are comparable and apple wins in that. The fixed amount of commands are OS-related and they are nothing to make the benchmark scores higher.Android fanboys say anything these days to make apple performance seem less but the thing is Android chips still suck. Both in performance and efficiency. They are also hotter. Snapdragon is a real dragon inside when it throws fire at your hand while doing medium to heavy tasks ;D and Exynos can't even reach the last year's snapdragon. Apple has better chips. admit it... or don't. Does not make any difference.

Amo, Bruh sd 8 gen 1 is faster for the case where it was placed in ipone just as optimized as a15 it wud have been faster now don't say "OPTIMIZATION DOESNT MATTER IN BENCHMARK" what I say is androids aren't as optimized as iphone cuz there are a large variety of android with the different chipset to be taken care of apple has jus a15 in the latest release so they jus have 1 to optimize.

Snapdragon 888 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 1: tests and benchmarks (33)

Shonen07 May 2022 22:03

Anynms, In terms of CPU performance, MediaTek's dimensity 9000 has a higher multi-core performance than apple's a14 bionic and is even close to the a15 bionic. On the other hand, the GPU performance isn't far off and so is the sd8 gen 1's so don't talk about what you don't know. Not to mention that Apple has vertical integration of their hardware and software which makes it possible to write faster application code that supports only their platform while android is using legacy hardware and software to support a variety of devices which brings about slower performance.

Amo, Here's the sample of optimization...If android use 1.8ghz while playing Genshin impact. Ios uses 2.8ghs in the same scenario...Android likely will have Framedrops on Hard Battles until the Clock speed of the android device slowly went up. While Ios maintains its clock speed higher than the amount needed., Which makes the game smoother. If you know android Well more than a Lot of Normal users. Then you can control Your Cpu and Gpu performance using root.Android chipsets are more powerful! But The System itself takes it as Less powerful for the reason of preserving the battery and Minimizing heat... iPhone CPU is much Faster. But android has a faster GPU... Which is Un-optimized.

Lan, Why are people comparing iOS and android chipsets? Especially when it comes to flagships you do not even gain access to root on iPhones as easily, in fact, orders of magnitude harder... This is ultimately the reason why iOS is not versatile you literally cannot change the settings and forcing root is again orders of magnitude harder.Your iphone is in jail, not sure why you forgot that.
