Amethyst Home
10. Winsome in Wood and White
It’s hard to go wrong with sticking to a palette of mostly wood and white in a kitchen. The effect is both bright and warming. Amethyst Home took that to heart with this Omaha kitchen and covered the island base, vent hood and nearby built-in storage hutch in light-colored wood planks. Light wood flooring adds another anchor of warmth. Meanwhile, white cabinets, walls, backsplashes, countertops and pendant shades enhance the light.

9. Storage Surprise
This hardworking island in an Atlanta-area kitchen by also features wood and white details. But it’s the hidden pullout storage component for cookie sheets and cutting boards that really grabs attention.

8. Buttoned Up
This white-and-wood Chicago kitchen by Dan Rak Design exudes sophisticated style. A rich wood island and wood flooring support creamy countertops and beautiful white cabinets with pronounced molding. Nailhead trim on plaid upholstery for the stools and brass cabinet hardware and other brass details give this voluminous space a tailored look.

7. Gorgeous Gray
The 2022 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study found that 1 in 10 renovating homeowners chooses gray for their kitchen cabinets. For this beautiful Northern California kitchen, matched the cabinet paint to the light gray veining in the stone used on the counter and backsplash to create a cohesive design. “Skinny Shaker-style” cabinets feature a thin border on the cabinet and drawer fronts, giving the room a fresh look.

6. Coastal Classic
White and blue is another classic kitchen pairing that never goes out of style. For this Arlington, Virginia, kitchen, designer Elena Eskandari leaned heavily on the timeless colors. A blue island coordinates with blue backsplash tile and blue stools. White cabinets, countertops and accent wall tile provide a crisp counterbalance. And ornate lantern-style pendants and a metal range hood join the color palette to create elegant coastal style.
5. Slab Success
In this Chicago-area kitchen addition, played off tones in the grayish wood island with marble-look quartz slabs that feature prominent gray veining. Designer Stephanie Frees installed the slabs so the veining runs slightly horizontal to create the appearance of more space.

4. Light and Airy
Here’s another white-and-wood kitchen design — noticing a pattern yet? For this Los Angeles kitchen by AE Design, Amy Elbaum embraced all-white Shaker-style cabinetry, white zellige-style tile and white countertops to create a breezy look that plays up the Southern California sunshine. Light wood flooring, stools, floating shelves and range detail give the space a warm and casual vibe. Barely-there glass pendants add to the airy effect.
MARGARITA BRAVO
3. Walnut Winner
This Denver kitchen by Margarita Bravo is technically a wood-and-white space, but it leans heavily on a walnut island and walnut storage wall to create a bit of a mountain look befitting the Colorado landscape. Black backsplash tile with black grout, black stools and black hardware inject some drama, while a statement pendant over the island creates a cool contemporary focal point.

2. Beachy Beauty

Lawless Design
1. Fire and Stone
Hannah Oravec of Lawless Design helped a Melrose, Massachusetts, couple transform their tight galley kitchen with a 200-square-foot addition. You’ll notice lots of white and wood — quartersawn white oak perimeter cabinets and a white island with beadboard detailing, for example — but it’s the uncommon features that helped make this the most-saved kitchen photo so far in 2022. A stone-look tile backsplash and European gas fireplace create a warm cozy-cottage atmosphere that’s hard to look away from.
