Skyrim: How To Install Apocalypse Magic Of Skyrim Mod (2024)

When it comes to spells and magic, Skyrim is particularly lacking compared to previous Elder Scrolls entries like Oblivion or Morrowind. Part of this is the lack of a Spellcrafting system, but another part of it is the lack of a Mage's Guild and the negative attitude Nords have towards Magicka users.

There are lots of mods that change spells or add new options for mages, but none are quite as extensive as the Apocalypse Magic of Skyrim mod. This mod adds more than a hundred new spells for players to learn, and each fits seamlessly into the world of Skyrim without feeling broken or underpowered.

What Does The Apocalypse Mod Add?

Apocalypse redefines what it means to be a mage in Skyrim, giving each school of magic more than 30 new spells to learn for a total of 155 new Spells. That's more than twice the number of Spells available in the game normally, and their effects are much more varied and interesting.

For example, Destruction mages now have spells like Bolide to deal damage to far targets, Conjuration Mages can summon a rideable direwolf, and Illusion mages can steal their opponent's abilities with Thoughtsteal. These are just three unique Spells of the 155 included in Apocalypse, which also adds powerful new Master-level spells for each school too.

How to Install Apocalypse Magic of Skyrim

There are three ways to install Apocalypse Magic of Skyrim, the easiest of which is simply through Skyrim Special Edition's in-game modding platform. It can also be installed through the Nexus Mod Manager (NMM), or manually (though manual mod installation is a tricky business and is best avoided). It's also available for the original version of Skyrim through the Steam Workshop.

• In-Game Mod Menu: Launch Skyrim then select "Mods" in the title menu. Search for "Apocalypse" when the homepage loads, then download and install it to your game. Return back to the title screen to re-load the game with Apocalypse enabled.
• Nexus Mod Manager: Install the Nexus Mod Manager, then use the Scan tool to find your Skyrim installation. You can search for the "Apocalypse" mod in a browser, which will redirect you back to the mod manager, or install it through the launcher itself. Enable it once installed and launch Skyrim through the nexus launcher.
• Non-Special Edition: Head to the Steam Workshop and find the Skyrim listings. Search for "Apocalypse"

The Apocalypse mod is surprisingly compatible with most other mods, including mods that add spells and abilities to the game. All of the spells included are new and don't conflict with others, though there are some exceptions listed in the mod's page on the Skyrim Nexus.
